Drink the Best Morning Drinks

BY ERIN MANSOUR

Everyone performs their own morning routine to wake up, whether showering, brushing teeth or in some cases just rolling out of bed and driving to school.   But one thing most people have in common is the need for a morning drink.  Some prefer coffee others prefer juice but what morning beverage gives your body the best wake up call? Here is a hint: It is not coffee!

Do not underestimate the power of water in the morning.  After a long night of sleep bodies need hydration.  Drinking caffeine dehydrates the body so drinking water before coffee or soda helps replenish your system.  Starting the day with a glass of water will also help digest any breakfast or other meals eaten throughout the day.

Experts agree that the best morning drink is green tea. Green tea boosts energy levels to help start the day off right.  Green tea’s rich in anti-oxidant formula gives the drinker this boost.  Other health benefits of green include deterrence of tooth decay, prevention of food poisoning, lowering of cholesterol levels, and even helping with infections.  The dieter should also note that green tea helps burn calories.

The juice lovers out there should consider swapping sugary juices for a glass of orange juice.  Not only does orange juice provide part of the recommended daily fruit serving, but it has also been found to lower blood pressure.  Orange juice contains vitamin C, which will help keep the immune system remain healthy.

A popular morning beverage, milk, can be consumed in a variety of different ways.  Whether poured on cereal, mixed with chocolate or just plain, milk is a very versatile drink.  An obvious benefit of drinking milk is it is rich in calcium, which makes bones strong.   Along with calcium, milk contains high levels of protein, Vitamins A and D and many other nutrients.  Everyone has seen the milk ads that claim that milk helps you lose weight.  Well, introducing 24-oz of low-fat milk into your diet can help you lose weight by burning calories.

So tomorrow morning, trade in that cup of coffee for one of these healthy drinks.  Give your immune system a boost, fill your body with vitamins and start the day out energized!
